Modern Techniques

LiposuctionWith the aging process, our metabolism changes dramatically. Liposuction removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body including the face, neck, arms, back, abdominal wall, and thighs through small incisions. It can remove a double chin, slim the tummy, hips and thighs, as well as shape the arms, calves and ankles.

Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction

Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL) and power-assisted liposuction are modern techniques. New liposuction instruments make the surgical removal of fat much more efficient. With great attention to detail and new techniques, achieving a beautiful body through liposculpture is an achievable goal.

Process

The procedure starts with injecting a special fluid containing anesthetic medication into the fatty tissue. Doctors inject a special tumescent fluid into the areas in order to plump up the fat while constricting the blood vessels. This process of fat removal is more effective resulting in minimal blood loss. Small 1/8- to 1/4-inch incisions in hidden areas introduce the liposuction cannulae. The power-assisted liposuction device aspirates and sculpts fat in a calculated manner. Surgeons sculpt the fat with fine diameter cannulae for increased control. During liposculpture procedures, the machine removes the fat in small quantities in order to create a beautifully shaped body instead of just making the body smaller. The physician closes the small incisions at the end of the procedure to avoid unnecessary drainage of fluids out of the body. The doctor applies a pressure garment to decrease swelling after the procedure.
